Professional Interactions

Collaboration in health care is essential to provide high quality care efficiently and effectively given limited health care resources. In health care we interface with many different healthcare professionals daily and how we interface can impact our ability to problem solve and care plan to achieve the best patient outcomes.

What I have learned is the effectiveness of interprofessional teams is dependent on multiple factors including:

  • Knowledge of roles and responsibilities

  • Scope of practice

  • Mutual trust and respect

  • Appropriate system level policies and legislation
