Key concepts:

-
WHO's definition of 'complete' well being has received some criticism as literature indicates it may no longer be relevant
-
Meikrich Model defines health as a dynamic state of well being based on an individuals potential, life demands and social and environmental determinants
-
an individuals resiliency and adaptation to meet life's demands will either lead to disease or promote a state of health
-
Key determinants of health- income and social status, social support networks, education and literacy, employment/working conditions, social environments, physical environments, personal health practices, healthy child development, biology and genetic endowment, health services, gender and culture

To address the SDOH:
-
adopt better governance for health and development
-
promote participation in policy making and implementation
-
further reorient the health sector towards reducing health inequities
-
strengthen global governance and collaboration
-
monitor progress and increase accountability
